A Ryanair flight was forced to make an emergency landing earlier today following a tyre blow out during take-off.

According to the Daily Record, passengers travelling on the 8.05am from Edinburgh to Dublin heard a loud bang seconds after the plane left the runway.

The plane was met by firefighters after it turned back to land at Edinburgh Airport 10-minutes after departing.

Rami Okasha, a passenger on the plane tweeted: “On a #ryanair plane stuck at Edinburgh.

“Unfortunately a tyre exploded on takeoff and we had to land again rather suddenly. All well [sic].”

“A flight from Edinburgh to Dublin today suffered a burst tyre on take-off from Edinburgh Airport”, a Ryanair spokesperson confirmed.

“The aircraft returned to Edinburgh and landed normally and customers disembarked and were provided with refreshment vouchers.”

“A Ryanair engineer was sent from Prestwick to replace the tyre and the aircraft will depart for Dublin shortly. Ryanair sincerely apologised to all those affected by the delay to their journey.”

Passenger Tony Gowland used Twitter to vent his frustrations at the airline’s response to the incident: “4.5 hours to replace a blown tyre, and just a £3.50 food voucher to apologise. Last time I fly @Ryanair.”
