That honour falls to the Thai capital of Bangkok.
It attracted over 20 million international visitors in 2017, making it the number one city for people from around the world to go on holidays last year according to the Mastercard’s 2018 Global Destination Cities Index.
The research found that the average stay in Bangkok was 4.7 days, with travellers spending an average of £130 (around €148) per day there.
London was the second most popular tourist city worldwide, followed by Paris in third place, Dubai in fourth and Singapore in fifth.
