The Burren named one of best places to travel for 2021 by Lonely Planet

We all know Ireland is stunning, especially after a summer of staycations. No one has to tell us how pretty this island is! Not only has one of our most popular tourist destinations been recognised for its beauty but this year it has been awarded for its community and sustainability. Instead of sharing their annual Best in Travel Choices for the year, Lonely Planet decided to switch things up. This year the famous travel site will celebrate places around the word where people show a commitment to sustainable tourism, community and diversity. This new list shows how things have changed with travel and what people are looking for when visiting other parts of the world. It's not just about beautiful places, it's about the whole package. The Burren won the new "Best in Community" category. According to Lonely Planet, the area is “an impressive community collaboration of local enterprises which has transformed Ireland’s Burren and Cliffs of Moher Geopark into a global leader for sustainable tourism." Aside from being one of the most beautiful places in Ireland, The Burren Eco Tourism Network, is leading the way when it comes to sustainability, "it brings over 60 local enterprises together to become a global leader for sustainable tourism." Greece featured in the "Best in Sustainability" section as the best food destination, as"organic produce markets and island seafood makes it an unintentional leader of the world’s most sustainable food." There is also a diversity section this year, which features blogs from a plus sized traveller and and LGBTIQ couple. Best Inclusive Storyteller went to "Jeff Jenkins The Chubby Diaries blog provides practical information for plus-sized travellers." "Amsterdam-based bloggers A Couple of Men share insight on LGBTIQ-friendly travel destinations" were named best LGBTIQ+ storytellers.
