According to the property description on Airbnb, the castle has been standing since the late 1400s, but has been restored to modernity through both traditional materials and more cutting-edge technology.
Guests at Cahercastle will be staying in the master bedroom, which is the highest room in the castle, but they'll have sole access to the top two floors.
The property's host Peter reminds guests that as they'll be staying in a real castle, they need to manage their expectations. It won't be pristine like a hotel, but they have tried to make it as comfortable as possible with many modern conveniences. What's more, as castles weren't built with showers and baths in mind, the bathtub is actually located in the living room, which is just one of Cahercastle's many quirks.
Amenities at the castle include a kitchen, free parking, a bath, an indoor fireplace, WiFi, stove and a private fireplace. Your neighbours will be the sheep and cows of the surrounding fields.
A stay at Cahercastle for two guests will set you back by €180 a night, and you'll want to be quite organised with your booking. Unsurprisingly, it's largely booked out until March 2023.
