This is the best sign of sportsmanship.

Last night marked the end of the Euros 2016. In what was an emotional match to close the competition, Portugal beat France.

Portugal fan’s hopes were almost dashed half way through the first half when their captain Cristiano Ronaldo was deemed unfit to continue playing after an injury to his left leg. They continued on with Eder stepping off the bench in his place and scoring the winning goal in extra time.

French fans were shocked and saddened to lose out on the trophy, as were pundits and bookies all around the world who had France picked as the favourites.

But, in the end, Portugal got the winning goal and so they deserved to win. It didn’t stop French fans from being absolutely distraught though, having come so close in the competition and in their own country as well.

One Portuguese fan showed the rest of the world how to win with dignity and it will restore faith in sports fans everywhere.

The little fan was filmed approaching a French fan after the game to offer some support and a hug.
