Many factors determine whether a couple will make it or break it but apparently a 'perfect' age gap is one of them.
Could this be the secret to a long-lasting relationship? These experts believe so.
According to the study, which was conducted in Australia, there's a reason why many people date someone a few years older or younger than them.
The team behind the study discovered that "couples with large age gaps had a faster decline in relationship satisfaction in their first six to 10 years of marriage than similarly aged couples."
But what is the perfect age gap?
The team confirmed that the best age gap is one of three years.
"Relationship satisfaction decreased slightly for couples with age gaps of four to six years and continued to decrease for couples with an age gap of seven or more years.
"In short, research seems to indicate that in many cultures, an age gap of one to three years is considered ideal — but some researchers suggest even a relationship with an age gap of less than 10 years will bring more satisfaction," the study claims.
But we all know a good relationship is so much more than the age gap between the couple. So many other factors come into play like your personality trust, sex life, life goals, and communication.
