This old-fashioned name used to be hugely popular in Ireland
There are so many baby names that are going out of style but there is one old-fashioned name that is set to become extinct in Ireland.
It may have been one of the most popular names for girls back in the 80s and 90s but it’s now falling in popularity.
The name Catherine was a classic in Ireland but it no longer features in the top baby girl names list as more modern and shorter options have beaten it to the top spot.
According to BabyCenter, the name Catherine has fallen dramatically in popularity.
The name is of Greek origin and means ‘pure innocence’.
The team at BabyCenter confirmed that Catherine has dramatically fallen in popularity since 2023.
