‘Doctors’ And ‘Call the Midwife’ Actress Dead at 48

There was a widespread outpouring of grief today as it was announced that County Fermanagh born Doctors actress Clare Cathcart had passed away at her home at the age of 48.

The Call the Midwife actress was also scheduled to play a school teacher in the upcoming The White Room.

Tributes poured in for the actress with Miranda Hart one of the many who took to Twitter to express their grief.

A representative for the actress confirmed today: “It is with huge sadness that we have to report the death of our beloved friend and client Clare Cathcart.”

“Clare was brilliant, fearless and funny; a wonderful actor who we are immensely proud to have represented.”

“She’ll be remembered for her work at The Royal Court, The RSC, The National, The Tricycle and Chichester Festival Theatre..most recently in New Tricks and Call the Midwife.”

“Without her razor-sharp wit and glorious laugh the world will seem a darker place. We will miss her enormously.”

Friend and former Coronation Street actor Charlie Condou also expressed his sorrow and said that her death had come as a “shock” to him, claiming that she was “one of the most beautiful people” that he’d ever met.

Other stars joined in on the tributes that have been flowing in on Twitter and other social media sites all day.

The cause of death has not yet been confirmed.
