This Is Why You Should Always Cover Your Mouth When You Sneeze. Watch How Far Germs REALLY Spread…

It really is more than just manners...

A new video shows the real spread of germs when someone sneezes on an airplane, and it’s not pretty.

The computer simulation shows the sneeze droplets spread amongst the cabin members, using the true airflow of in-flight airplanes to give an accurate idea of the spread of disease.

Speaking about the video, Robert Harwood of Ansys, the engineering firm that created the video, told Popular Science:

“Those droplets get picked up by the airflow and get transplanted all over the cabin. They actually spread quite far.”

The video was originally conducted to help airlines and public health officials plan ways to curb the spread of flu and infection that can be spread through the air.

What we have learned from this video is to make sure we always cover our mouths when we sneeze.

And to maybe wear a scarf around our mouth on a flight.
