3 of the best places to get your pasta fix on a Dublin date night

Cassie Stokes

Pasta and bread.

Carbs just taste better in the colder month than they do in the summer months, especially when they are covered in butter. And if you haven’t tasted any of these two carbs mentioned above in butter, you are simply not living and you should probably go try some before reading on.

The one thing I love about the colder months are the date nights. Things just seem so much more romantic when it gets darker earlier. One of my favourite things to do on a date night is go to a restaurant and chat and enjoy all the lovely things a place has to offer with some great company… hopefully.

If the company is shit, leave and go back with a friend. Your time is precious!

My favourite carbs naturally include pizza, pasta, pizza and pasta. Right now I’m imagining a nice walk on Saturday in the autumn with a hot chocolate and loads of warm clothes, followed by a booking in a delicious restaurant for some of Dublin’s finest pasta dishes.

So, here’s a list of my favourite places to get pasta in Dublin. You’re welcome.

Host

This place also does small sharing dishes and the pasta is out of this world. I have tried the duck ragu pappardelle more times than I can count.

The pumpkin cappellacci is another dish you will not regret ordering. The atmosphere in this place is perfect, definitely a date night spot, especially if you can get one of the two tables at the front window where you can sit side by side and people watch.

Sprezzatura

One of the new kids on the bloc and barely a year old, Sprezzatura has been a hit with people looking for good pasta at a decent price.

I don’t think I’ve ever spent more than twenty euro in here. Anytime I’ve gone, I somehow end up making money. And the pasta is fresh and delicious. I recommend sharing because then you get to try everything. But if your date doesn’t want to share then just order it all for you and they will be raging.

It’s a great spot that’s always busy and has really good vibes, so get dressed up and have yourself a date night here!

Grano

Pasta in Stoneybatter doesn’t get much better than Grano. In fact pasta in Dublin doesn’t get much better than Grano.

This is ideal for a date night, if you can get a table. The pasta here is made with such love, and it’s here that you’re likely to try a dish you’ve probably never tried before, like gnocchi with clams and other interesting pairings.
