‘We tried for a long time…’ Chris Pratt and Anna Faris have separated

One of Hollywood's most popular couples has announced their separation.

Chris Pratt and Anna Faris met a decade ago on a movie set and married in 2009. They have a four-year-old son, Jack.

Mr Pratt, 38, issued a joint statement via Facebook on Sunday. It read: "Anna and I are sad to announce we are legally separating. We tried hard for a long time, and we’re really disappointed.

"Our son has two parents who love him very much and for his sake we want to keep this situation as private as possible moving forward.

"We still have love for each other, will always cherish our time together and continue to have the deepest respect for one another."

Anna, 40, and Chris met while filming Take Me Home Tonight. At the time, Anna was married to actor Ben Indra.

They got engaged in 2008 and their wedding took place in Bali in July 2009.

Their son, Jack, was born nine weeks prematurely and spent a month in hospital before going home.

Chris has starred in the likes of The Lego Movie, Guardians Of The Galaxy and Jurassic World. Anna is well-known for her roles in Brokeback Mountain, 22 Jump Street, and Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs.

Speaking in April at his Hollywood Walk Of Fame ceremony, Mr Pratt said: "I want to thank my wife Anna, I love you. You've given me so much. You gave me the greatest star in the galaxy in my little boy, I love him and I love you."
