The world was saddened when John Travolta and his wife Kelly lost their eldest son in 2009 and the actor today revealed that Jett’s death nearly made him quit Hollywood.

Jett died after suffering a seizure during a family holiday in the Bahamas before losing consciousness. The 16-year-old suffered from Kawasaki disease.

The tragic death was extremely hard for the Pulp Fiction actor but he said the support from his fans pulled his family through the difficult time.

According to The Irish Mirror, John said: “I lost my son a few years ago and I had been having quite a time of that.

“After three years getting a lot of support from my church and a lot of support from people, fans, family, I decided that it was okay to go back to work.

“I’d even thought of retiring at one point because it felt too much,” he said.

Kelly and John have had another baby named Benjamin

Since Jett’s death the family have welcomed a baby boy Benjamin who joins 11-year-old Ella Bleu.

In 2003, Travolta’s wife, Kelly Preston spoke about Jett’s Kawaski disease, a condition that presents itself in children between the ages of two and five and causes inflammation of the arteries and even heart problems.
