Egypt is the newest ski destination and we’re booking flights IMMEDIATELY

Niamh Maher

Forget the Pyramids, we’re going for the slopes.

When you think of ski destinations your mind automatically travels to the French Alps, Aspen or Switzerland.

Egypt doesn’t tend to feature… until now that is.

Unlike many of the famed resorts across the globe, Egypt’s newly opened INDOOR slopes boast something a little different, the ability to ski all year round.

Housed inside the newly opened $700 million Mall of Egypt on the outskirts of Cairo is Ski Egypt, Africa’s first man-made indoor ski slope.

Fox news reports that the developers are hoping to build on the success of their slope inside the Mall of Emirates in Dubai.

For years companies have been hesitant to invest any capital in Egypt given the country’s shaky political situation, but that appears to be changing.

Boasting real snow, chair lifts, and top instructors, Ski Egypt hopes to provide the backdrop to enhance the joy of skiing, snowboarding, as well as a range of other winter sports and activities.

The Mall is also home to 350  local and international retailers as well as 21 theater cinema, we are pretty impressed.
