Rumours began circulating online after the Dublin-born star was spotted at a number of premiere red carpets across Europe, despite not being part of the cast this time around.
The first film in the franchise was released in cinemas nationwide on Friday last, starring Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande as Elphaba and Glinda.
Director, John Chu teased that Dorothy would be part of the second instalment while speaking to Variety, but kept quiet on who they had in mind for the role.
He said: “I won’t say whether she’s a character, necessarily, in movie two.
“There’s part of me that wants everyone’s Dorothy to be the whatever Dorothy they want. And yet, there is interaction and some crossover. So I’ll leave that up to Part Two."
Although exact details about Wicked: Part Two have yet to be confirmed - including Alisha’s part in the film - it is understood that they’re working with a release date of November 25th, 2025.
