My Therapist Ghosted Me takes champion award at 2023 British Podcast Awards

Our favourite duo are flying the flag for Ireland.

Vogue Williams, 37, and Joanne McNally, 40, have something to celebrate as their podcast, My Therapist Ghosted Me, has won the Champion Award at the 2023 British Podcast Awards.

Since April 2021, we have all become utterly obsessed with the duo and their podcast. It has gone from strength to strength and materialised into a tour that has taken the podcast around the UK, with future dates for Ireland and Australia.

Their weekly ramblings come with 100% transparency, relatability, and hilarity, which makes it no surprise to see them named as champions in the podcast world last night.

The name for the podcast was inspired by Joanne’s therapist quite literally ghosting her: ignoring her calls, refusing to answer the door at the clinic, or speaking to her after she’d tracked him down at Enfield Crematorium as he scattered his aunt’s ashes.

In light of this, they decided that friendship and laughter are the best therapies and joined forces to bring both into listeners lives over the last two and a half years.

Model and media personality Vogue and her husband, Spencer Matthews, also bagged the Best Well-Being Podcast at the ceremony for the Spencer and Vogue podcast.

The awards were a star-studded affair, as a number of industry heads were in attendance, including reality stars Jamie Laing and Sophie Habboo from the NewlyWeds podcast and TV and radio presenter Miquita Oliver, who co-hosts the podcast Stirring It Up With Andi and Miquita Oliver.

Williams and her husband Spencer, who both co-host the podcast Spencer and Vogue, also presented an award at the ceremony for best wellbeing podcast.

Elsewhere, more podcasts were honoured for their contribution to the world of audio entertainment.

Taking home the Podcast of the Year and Gold Award for Best Factual Podcast was BBC production A Positive Life: HIV From Terrence Higgins To Today which was presented by British pop star Sam Smith who speaks about HIV stories, beginning with the life of Terrence Higgins, one of the first British people to die of an Aids-related illness.

True-crime podcast RedHanded came out on top In the listeners’ choice category, while Partygate: The Inside Story for ITV News, which details the UK-based scandal which ensued following reports that there were Downing Street parties during the Covid-19 pandemic lockdown, claimed the Spotlight Award.

The News Agents, which is hosted by journalists Emily Maitlis, Jon Sopel and Lewis Goodall, were given the Gold Award for Best Daily Podcast, while My Dad Wrote A Porno nabbed the Hall of Fame Award.

Persevering: Grief As Told By Young People, Let’s Talk About Loss was named as the Best Specialist Podcast and the Rising Star Gong was awarded to Chante Joseph at The Guardian, who hosts the Pop Culture podcast.

The Gold Award for the Best News and Current Affairs podcast was won by The Guardian for Today In Focus and the Best Entertainment podcast was won by Elis James and John Robins’ show for BBC Radio 5 Live and BBC Sounds.
