Some massive names have been linked with Stranger Things series two

This would be interesting.

Stranger Things fans rejoiced yesterday when it was confirmed that it would return for a second series.

It was pretty much confirmed before that, with the Duffer brothers hinting about its return in interviews, but we all had to wait to hear from Netflix for the final word. And yesterday, that finally came as they confirmed that in 2017 it would be back for nine more episodes.

They gave us some hints about episode titles, including, “The Pumpkin Patch”, “The Palace”, “The Storm” and “The Boy Who Came Back To Life”, but didn’t give much else away.

It was one of the most talked about shows on Netflix and had endorsements from both the public and celebrities and now it turns out some actors are dying to get involved in the show.

Executive producer Shawn Levy was speaking to Hollywood Life when he spoke about the addition of new characters to season two. Detailing the type of role he said:

“There’s definitely a handful of really compelling new characters this season, but absolutely servicing the core group first and foremost. But yes, we have some new characters entering the adventure. Like the show itself, it’s multigenerational new characters and really, really intriguing ones.”

He added:

“They are characters that we’ve already conceived but none of them have been completely, officially cast. We have people in mind — some of whom are names you might know, many of whom are names you won’t know. But no, no one has been officially cast as one of these new characters.”

And with the shows success it’s no surprise that some actors and producers want to get involved. When asked about this Shawn said:

“You’re absolutely right. Without naming them — look, obviously certain people like Aaron Paul and Stephen King and Guillermo Del Toro have been very public champions of our show and supporters.

But the list of famous creative people — whether actors or filmmakers — who have found their way to the Duffers and I as fans of the show … and you’re right, certain actors that you have definitely heard of have raised their hand with real interest to be a part of it.”

However, we might not be seeing any of those big names involved in the new series because he believes that you shouldn’t exploit the show by casting loads of famous people.

He explained:

“But I don’t know that just because those are available that opportunity makes them the right ideas. When everything is available and possible, there’s a temptation to exploit it.

But the show’s appeal is based so much on the unknown quotient in our actors, in our premise, in our plot. So we do hope to keep that same discovery, and that would suddenly go away if we decided to cast all the famous people who said they’d like to be a part of it.”

Either way we cannot wait for it to come back.
