Senna And Forgetting Sarah Marshall – The Best Films On TV This Week

The best of the films this week...

Sue Murphy

There are so many films on TV on a weekly basis, we thought we would draw your attention to some of the better movies that you can check out from the comfort of your own home. Here are five of the best films that are on TV this week.

1. Dodgeball, Monday, TG4, 9,30pm.

Starring Ben Stiller and Vince Vaughn, Dodgeball was released in the Golden Era of the Frat Pack and even though it’s certainly not one of their best, the ridiculous comedy is still a lot of fun.

2. Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Tuesday, ITV2, 22.50pm

Certainly a huge favourite in the office, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, a film about a broken man who breaks up with the love of his life, is just one of those comedy gems and surprisingly a film that Russell Brand is pretty good in.

3. The Ugly Truth, Wednesday, RTE1, 9.35pm

Yes, it’s a rom-com. Yes, it stars Gerard Butler and Katherine Heigl but this is the perfect way to break up the week. Revolving around a chauvenistic TV presenter who just doesn’t get on with his single, beautiful TV producer you… can see where this is going.

4. Senna, Thursday, ITV4, 22.30pm

Arguably one of the best documentaries you will ever see, not just this year, at any stage, Senna tells the tragic story of the Formula 1 race car driver who lost his life at the San Marino Grand Prix.

5. The A-Team, Friday, E4, 9pm.

It’s a remake of the original series but it’s just the right amount of fun with a particularly charming cast, including our lovely Liam Neeson.

6. Cast Away, Saturday, TV3, 9.30pm

Wilson! WILSON! Tom Hanks plays a castaway who must learn to survive on a desert island with his only friend, a football.

7. Pirates of the Caribbean, Sunday, BBC Three, 19.50pm

Ok, we will agree, the Pirates series has definitely been run into the ground at this stage but you have to admit, that first film was pretty great.
