Fingers crossed.
Regé-Jean Page is reportedly in talks to come back for Bridgerton season 3.
The actor was a fan favourite when he played the Duke of Hastings in the first season of the period drama.
However, the 34-year-old did not star in the second series, despite his onscreen wife Daphne Bridgerton (Phoebe Dynevor) appearing throughout – much to the disappointment of viewers.
Now, according to The Sun, it finally looks like we might see his face on the show again.
A source told the publication: ‘Regé-Jean was always very open about his intention to quit the show after the first season and to move on to other projects.
“But recently there has been a dialogue between him and the show’s bosses.
“Nothing has been formally agreed yet, but watch this space.”
Regé-Jean’s departure from Bridgerton was first announced on Instagram last April with a special edition of Lady Whistledown’s Society Paper.
It said: “While all eyes turn to Lord Anthony Bridgerton’s quest to find a Viscountess, we bid adieu to Rege-Jean Page, who so triumphantly played the Duke of Hastings. We’ll miss Simon’s presence onscreen, but he will always be a part of the Bridgerton family.
“Daphne will remain a devoted wife and sister, helping her brother navigate the upcoming social season and what it has to offer – more intrigue and romance than my readers may be able to bear. Yours Truly, Lady Whistledown.”
Reacting to the news on Instagram, the actor wrote: “It’s been an absolute pleasure and a privilege to be your Duke.
“Joining this family – not just on screen, but off screen too. Our incredibly creative and generous cast, crew, outstanding fans – it’s all been beyond anything I could have imagined.
“The love is real and will just keep growing.”
The news comes after Regé-Jean was named the favourite to take over the role of James Bond after Daniel Craig stepped down following No Time To Die in 2021.
