Pierce Brosnan has spoken out in defence of his performance in a Guy Ritchie show as everyone makes the same complaint.
Brosnan stars in Guy Ritchie's MobLand; however, viewers have been complaining about his Irish accent in the show.
Despite the star-studded lineup, the show's future was under threat due to complaints over Brosnan's authenticity.
According to fans of the show, even though he was born in Ireland, his Irish accent was not very convincing.
The 72-year-old has now defended the show and his performance, saying his accent was 'much stronger' than his own due to his character being from Kerry.
Speaking to Radio Times, he said: "My own accent is very soft.
"Conrad’s accent is a million miles away from me."
Brosnan continued: "I told him that I needed a Kerry accent,' he said. 'So he gave me the name of a man and I Googled the guy and that was it. It was a Kerry accent. And so, I just gave it full tilt."
Viewers did not hold back in sharing the criticism, with one writing on X: "It is quite astonishing how bad Pearce Brosnan plays an Irishman in MobLand…. considering he is one."
Yikes...
Another labelled the accent as 'ridiculous'.
Even though his character is a villain, the former James Bond actor said he 'loves him'.
"I enjoy him. I mean, I don’t want to be that person – he’s a psychopath. There are no holds barred. You own the stage, you have wings to fly and be anything you wish," he explained.
MobLand is available to stream on both Paramount+ and Amazon Prime Video.
