Percy speaks! The M&S Christmas ad is here, and our favourite pig is the star

It really is beginning to look a lot like Christmas these days.

Today, M&S revealed their 2021 Christmas ad, and the star is a pretty famous face, I think you'll find. Percy Pig is one of M&S most iconic and famous characters, and for good reason. The British supermarket sells 400 million individual Percy Pig sweets a year, but the lovable pig is already known for so much more than being a sweet treat. Never mind actor, Percy is also an influencer and famous Tik Tok star, who regularly gets more than one million views per video. And this year, for the first time in 29 years, the little pig speaks. The ad, which premiered this morning during ITV’s Good Morning Britain, sees the series of eight ads begin with the appearance of a very special Christmas fairy in the M&S Foodhall in Stratford, London. Accidentally dropping her wand, the festive fairy – voiced by Dawn French – causes Percy Pig to become real and sets in motion a Christmas extravaganza as Percy discovers all the festive favourites in the M&S aisles.

As she welcomes Percy to the M&S store, and wishes him a merry Christmas, Percy speaks out loud for the very first time.

Voiced by Tom Holland, the adorable little pig exclaims: "Christmas? I've never had a Christmas before! Wahoo!"

And with a little help from the Christmas fairy, Percy explores the M&S store to find just a few of the delights the retailer has in store this Christmas.

Speaking about being cast as Percy's voice, Holland says:

"I’ve loved Percy Pigs for as long as I can remember, and when I was asked to be his voice – his first EVER voice – it took me less than a second to say yes."

He continues:

"Getting the snort right was a challenge, but I hope I nailed it and you all like what you hear! I did consider asking for a lifetime supply of Percy Pigs but I figured I’ve got to save room for all of that amazing M&S Christmas food!"

Percy Pig himself said of his acting debut: “Running around exploring the WHOLE M&S Foodhall felt like my own personal supermarket sweep – what more could you want for Christmas?! I found so many festive gems I could only have dreamed of, including my good friend Colin the Caterpillar!” Just like the rest of us, Percy is blown away by all the yummy Christmas food on offer at M&S as he trots around the foodhall with the fairy.

So after spotting the golden blond chocolate star Christmas pudding, studded with blond chocolate and fudge, enriched with brandy and rum and finished with blond chocolate and rum sauce, the little pig exclaims:

"I've never seen anything so beautiful in all my 23 seconds of life."
