Saoirse Ronan plays Jo March in Greta Gerwig’s Little Women
St. Stephen’s Day is made for staying on the sofa and watching half a dozen movies. There are tonnes of movies to choose from but one of Saoirse Ronan’s best films is one you can’t miss.
Saoirse Ronan was nominated for an Academy Award for her performance in Greta Gerwig’s Little Women.
The 2019 box-office hit is one of the most moving films Saoirse Ronan has starred in in recent years.
If you’ve never read Louisa May Alcott’s classic novel or watched the 1994 version of the film then Greta Gerwig’s adaptation is one you cannot skip.
Little Women is a coming-of-age tale about the lives of the four March sisters – Jo, Amy, Beth, and Meg.
In the years after the Civil War, the sisters are now grown up but Jo March reflects on her life after meeting with editor Mr Dashwood.
Her sister Amy is studying painting in Paris and Meg is married to schoolteacher John Brooke, but their sister Beth’s devastating illness brings the family back together.
Florence Pugh, Emma Watson and Eliza Scanlen star alongside the Irish actress in the drama.
It also stars Timothée Chalamet, Meryl Streep, Laura Dern and James Norton.
Little Women is written and directed by Greta Gerwig.
Little Women is airing on More4 at 5.25 pm tonight.
