The true crime documentary film is streaming on Netflix now.
Netflix have released a new true crime documentary that focuses on an infamous killing of an Irish man in the United States.
A Deadly American Marriage will focus on the death of Jason Corbett, who was killed by his wife, Molly Martens and her father, former FBI agent, Thomas.
Jason, from Co. Limerick, was a widower and father of two when he fell in love with his American au pair, Molly Martens, in 2008. The pair seemed to be living the dream when they decided to move from Ireland to North Carolina, along with Jason’s two children Jack and Sarah, to start a new life.
However, tragedy struck on August 2, 2015, when Jason was killed in a violent altercation at home.
The perpetrators of this violent act were Molly and her father, Thomas. The pair claimed self-defence, but the former eventually pleaded no contest, and the latter guilty to voluntary manslaughter in 2023 to avoid a trial.
They were released from prison in June of last year, which reignited a lot of discussion surrounding what happened.

Netflix have now released a documentary about Jason Corbett’s killing to shed “a bright light on the many questions that have lingered since the shocking events of that night.”
In a press release announcing the documentary, the streaming giant said: “Was this actually self-defence, as they argued, or a calculated killing?
“For some, the intricacies of Jason and Molly’s marriage add further complexity, including a long-simmering debate over the custody of Jack and Sarah, who were 10 and 8 years old, respectively, at the time of Jason’s death.
“A Deadly American Marriage explores the mystery behind Jason Corbett’s death. The documentary features exclusive interviews with Molly, Thomas, Jack, and Sarah, offering a rare glimpse into the conflicting perspectives of those closest to the case.
“A Deadly American Marriage asks viewers to reflect on the elusive truths beneath a once seemingly fairy-tale life that ended in tragedy.”
The documentary is produced by Jessica Burgess (Rich & Shameless, American Monster) and Jenny Popplewell (What Jennifer Did, American Murder: The Family Next Door).
