Bridgerton fans are not impressed with the latest news

Bridgerton fans, it looks like you’ll be waiting quite some time for the new season to drop on Netflix.

As season four of Bridgerton premieres in 2026, Netflix has announced the renewal for seasons 5 and 6.

Last season, followed the love story of our dear Penelope (Nicola Coughlan) and Colin (Luke Newton).

Season 4, based on the Julia Quinn book An Offer From a Gentleman, centres around Benedict, played by Luke Thompson, and his love interest is Sophie Baek, played by the stunning Yerin Ha.

The season 4 synopsis reads:

“Despite his elder and younger brothers both being happily married, Benedict is loath to settle down — until he meets a captivating Lady in Silver at his mother’s masquerade ball.”

The Bridgerton Universe has been an absolute hit. Netflix and Shondland debuted the series in 2020, and it dominated the charts.

Seasons 1 to 3 were ranked among Netflix’s Most Popular. The spin-off, Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, was in the Global Top 10.

The upcoming season will be an eight-episode series, due to film in London, with the return of showrunner Jess Brownell and executive producers Shonda Rhimes, Betsy Beers, Tom Verica, and Chris Van Dusen.

The reaction to the news of the upcoming season is abundant.

Fans are excited for the return of Bridgerton, but are conflicted about the wait.

One comment says: “There is such attention to detail and a LOT of work to make these seasons happen, I’m positive the wait is well earned!!”

Another: “Girl, make haste!! wdym 2026?!”

Another: Just not looking forward to how LONG the wait for S5 and S6 will be.”

Netflix also gave us a sneak peek of season 4 with a scene from the infamous masquerade ball.

And although we may have to wait some time for the show to be released, look on the bright side, at least we’re getting more seasons of Bridgerton.
