ABBA fans have been trending this morning online as rumours of the iconic band’s comeback begin to swirl in the aftermath of Sweden’s Eurovision win. Following victory on May 13th - with singer, Loreen, clinching the win from Finland - the competition will take place in the Sweden next year. The next event will also mark the 50th anniversary of ABBA’s win at the Eurovision with their song 'Waterloo' and many fans have been left reeling after realising the alignment. Twitter has been alight with conversations about the world famous band’s potential comeback at the 2024 event. Some are tipping Agnetha Fältskog, Björn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson, and Anni-Frid Lyngstad for an anniversary performance. A source told The Sun: "After Sweden won, people are going to be putting their Money, Money, Money on an ABBA reunion. "Even if it’s their ABBA-tars performing a hologram show, fans are desperate for it.” One fan of the band suggested: “So, the opening song / act of #Eurovision 2024 is quite clear, right? “ABBA’s Don’t Shut Me Down fits perfectly. It was *the* comeback song of 2021. What’s another three years?” Another said: “I’m calling it now, a year in advance. Next year’s eurovision is hosted in Sweden. “Next year is also 50 years since ABBA won eurovision. IF it was fixed, it was for good reason. ABBA COMEBACK 2024.” However, some fans have been left skeptical with the coincidence of Sweden winning this year. One person wrote on Twitter: “Is it a coincidence that it’s 50 years next year from when Abba won it? I’ll be back next year for an Abba comeback to win it again?” A second added: “Next year will be 50, odd coincidence. The votes rigged so abba can have their sweden comeback for their 50th??? ? nooo....why would u think that?” Eurovision officials have remained tight-lipped on the topic, and will likely not confirm anything until closer to the 2024 competition.
