“This award is dedicated to Hannah and all of her amazing, loyal fans, and to everyone who has made my dream a reality.”
Miley Cyrus has made Disney history, and has been honoured as the youngest ever recipient of the Disney Legend status.
The Hannah Montana actress took to the stage at the D23 convention as country singer Lainey Wilson sang ‘The Best of Both Worlds’ from the hit show.
Cyrus first appeared as iconic character when she was just 13 years old, when the Disney Channel series first aired in 2006.
Since then, she has gone on to become a stalwart of pop culture, with songs such as ‘Flowers’, ‘Wrecking Ball’ and ‘The Climb’ becoming huge hits.
Now aged 31, Cyrus has becoming the youngest person to ever be awarded Disney Legend status.
Other recipients this year include Indiana Jones actor Harrison Ford and Freaky Friday star Jamie Lee Curtis.
Taking to the stage to accept her award, Cyrus teared up as she accepted the honour.
“I’m gonna let everybody get on a little Disney Legend secret. I’m the one that tells you what you’re not supposed to know. And what I want to say, is that legends get scared, too,” she began.
“I’m scared right now, but the difference is we do it anyway, and all of you can do that every single day. It’s legendary to be afraid and do it anyway. There is no such thing as failure when you try,” she continued.
“I stand here still proud to have been ‘Hannah Montana,’” Cyrus told the crowd. “This award is dedicated to Hannah and all of her amazing, loyal fans, and to everyone who has made my dream a reality.
“To quote the legend herself, ‘This is the life,’” she concluded, in a reference to the Hannah Montana track.
We’re not crying, you are.
