Laura Whitmore has announced a major career move
Irish TV presenter Laura Whitmore has landed a huge acting role in The Girl On The Train.
Many of you will be familiar with the book but the story is being adapted for the stage with the actress playing Rachel Watson in the stage version.
The presenter confirmed she was a major fan of the book when it was first published, so landing this role meant a lot to her.
Laura shared: “I read the book when it first came out and I was obsessed by it. I love it when you find a book and all you can think about is that story. You wake up a little bit earlier to read the book and stay up too late to finish it. I am excited to show people my portrayal of Rachel next summer.”
The Girl On The Train will tour in Dublin
The novel follows Rachel Watson, who longs for a different life. Her only escape is the perfect couple she watches through the train window every day, happy and in love.
Or so it appears. When Rachel learns that the woman she’s been secretly watching has suddenly disappeared, she finds herself as a witness and even a suspect in a thrilling mystery in which she will face bigger revelations than she could ever have anticipated.
The international phenomenon has sold over 20 million copies worldwide so we cannot wait to see the story come to life on screen.
The Girl On The Train will land at Dublin’s Bord Gáis Energy Theatre in August 2025.
The play is produced by Simon Friend Entertainment and Josh Andrews Productions.
The Wiltshire Creative Production of The Girl on the Train is written by Paula Hawkins, adapted by Rachel Wagstaff and Duncan Abel, and is directed by Loveday Ingram.
The thriller will run from Monday, August 25th to Saturday, August 30th.
