Coronation Street producers have decided on the actress who will take over the role of Bethany Platt.
Nineteen-year-old Lucy Fallon started filming scenes for the Manchester based soap this week and her first scenes will air at the end of March.
Blackpool native Lucy spoke about her new role earlier this week: “Walking onto the set was surreal and nerve wracking, but everyone has been really welcoming and I am thrilled to have been given this great opportunity.”
Last week, it was revealed that the actress originally chosen to play Bethany, Katie Redford, had lied about her age to secure the part.
Lucy is set to join the popular soap
Katie had told show bosses she was 19 but the she is in fact 25, making her 11 years older than 14-year-old Bethany.
The actress was then sacked from the show with Lucy taking her place.
Bethany is due to arrive back to Coronation Street from Italy after running away from home.
Her mother Sarah arrives on the cobbles a week after, hoping to persuade her daughter to return with her but they both end up staying on the street.
