Beast, the first movie to star Ireland's latest Oscar-winner Jessie Buckley (Hamnet), is airing on TV tonight (Wednesday, 18 March).
In the 2017 psychological thriller, the Kerry actress plays the lead character, Moll, a troubled young woman living in a small island community with her controlling mother (Geraldine James, 45 Years)
Craving love and excitement, Moll falls for Pascal (Johnny Flynn, Ripley), a mysterious outsider who empowers her to escape her oppressive domestic life.
"When he comes under suspicion for a series of murders, she defends him at all costs," the plot synopsis adds.
Holding a 92% score on Rotten Tomatoes, the movie's central performance by Buckley, its rich characters, and its blend of genres were singled out for praise.
Beast is airing tonight on Film4 at 10.50pm. It will also be available to stream on Channel 4's website from Thursday, 19 March.
