“I’ll have what she’s having”
If you’re planning on staying in this Friday night then you’re in luck because one of the best-ever rom-coms is on TV tonight. The sunny weather has been replaced with clouds and showers so why not curl up on the sofa and tune into Nora Ephron’s iconic movie When Harry Met Sally on TV tonight?
I watch this movie at least once a month (I know) but it really is the perfect rom-com. It stars Meg Ryan, Billy Crystal, Bruno Kirby, and the late Carrie Fisher- a god-tier cast. It’s set in New York, has a dreamy soundtrack, and is written by the queen of the rom-com- Nora Ephron.
When Harry Met Sally follows Harry (Billy Crystal) and Sally (Meg Ryan) who meet for the first time as college graduates. Throughout the film we watch their friendship develop, but as the years go by and the friends grow closer, they can’t help but wonder if men and women can ever really just be friends.
If you’ve been living under a rock and have yet to see this classic from 1989 then tune into RTÉ 1 tonight at 11. 30 pm.
Watch it for Billy Crystal’s moving speech at the New Year’s Eve party alone.
And the cast’s perfect ’80s style, or Carrie Fisher’s perfect performance as Marie. Oh and for that iconic diner scene.
Just watch it and thank me later.
