Former The Xtra Factor presenter Sarah-Jane Crawford has revealed how she battled with a breast cancer scare while starting her role with the show.
The 33-year old revealed to MailOnline that in the week she auditioned for her role on the show, she was battling a cancer scare with her doctors.
Speaking about her scare, the Londoner revealed:
“My breast cancer scare changed my outlook on life. It definitely reminded me that as humans we are not infallible and that we need to take good care of ourselves more and more as the years roll by.
“It also made me realise that I’m not immune to something like breast cancer so I need to keep on top of checking up on myself.”
The presenter grew concerned in April 2014 after she discovered a lump in her breast. When she visited her doctor, she was referred for a scan and needle biopsy after being told it might be a papilloma.
The radio DJ started work on the Xtra Factor shortly after her operation but said the scare was enough for her to overhaul her lifestyle.
The presenter is now urging other women to regularly check their breasts for changes and to make sure they look after their bodies.
