Russell Brand might have been keeping a quieter profile than usual in recent months but this week that all changed.
The comedian, who is known for being controversial (if you think back to the Sachsgate scandal which also involved Jonathan Ross), took a shot at Hugo Boss for its links to the Nazis.
After accepting a gong at the GQ Men of the Year awards, Brand reportedly said that the publication stands for “genocide quips” before taking a shot at the fashion firm.
He continued: “I mention that only to make the next comment a bit lighter because if any of you know a little bit about history and fashion, you’ll know Hugo Boss made the uniforms for the Nazis.
“But they did look f***ing fantastic, let’s face it, while they were killing people on the basis of their religion and sexuality.”
He finished off his speech with a message for his fellow GQ award winner Noel Gallagher. He quipped: “Good luck getting more offensive than that, son.”
Not one to shy away from the fallout, Brand then took to Twitter yesterday about an exchange he had with GQ editor Dylan Jones following his speech.
He wrote: “GQ editor: “What you did was very offensive to Hugo Boss.” Me: “What Hugo Boss did was very offensive to the Jews.” #GQAwards #nazitailor.”

Russell is known for being a bit controversial.
