RTÉ broadcaster Colm Murray has sadly passed away at 61 years of age.
The County Westmeath native had been battling motor neurone disease which he was diagnosed with back in 2010.
Colm was best-known for his work as a sportscaster for RTÉ News. He worked for them for over 30 years.
Already a number of media personalities have spoken out about the tragic news.
Journalist Ken Murray tweeted: “RIP Colm Murray. One of the nicest guys ever to work in the Irish media. No ego, always willing to help and a funny guy as well.”
Broadcaster Denis Kirwan wrote: “Farewell Colm. A brilliant broadcaster and en even greater person. A true friend to so many. May you rest in peace. #gentleman #legend”.
TV3’s Sinead O’Donnell also paid her respects: “So sad to hear of the passing of Colm Murray – such an incredible broadcaster and inspiration RIP”.
