They never confirmed that they were actually dating and now it seems they never will as it has been reported that Nina Dobrev and Derek Hough are no longer an item.

A source told Us Weekly that the short-lived romance, which is said to have started over a month ago, has “played itself out.”

The couple with her former flame Ian Somerhalder. 

Another insider said that the pair, who became close through Derek’s sister Julianne, found the distance “too much to handle.”

Vampire Diaries star Nina was spotted enjoying a date with the professional dancer last week, five months after she ended her three-year relationship with her co-star Ian Somerhalder.

Derek is best known for being on Dancing With The Stars.
