The actor was laid to rest in Los Angeles on Friday, November 3rd.

Actor Matthew Perry may receive a posthumous star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, according to multiple reports.

The ‘Friends’ star was previously eligible to receive the honour in 2013, but the ceremony was never scheduled, and the award expired in 2018, according to Entertainment Tonight.

The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, the organisation responsible for installing the famous plaques in Hollywood, told the outlet that a star for Perry would be the decision of his family.

While the organisation has not yet heard back from the star’s family, they said it would be a ‘beautiful thing’ to see Perry honoured on the Walk of Fame.

In his 2022 memoir, ‘Friends, Lovers, and The Big Terrible Thing’, the ‘Fools Rush In’ actor opened up about the challenges and struggles he faced throughout his life with addiction.

He explained in an interview on the ‘Q with Tom Power’ podcast about how he wanted to take the power of overcoming his addiction and use it to help others.

“The best thing about me, bar none, is if somebody comes up to me and says, ‘I can’t stop drinking. Can you help me?’ I can say yes and follow up and do it,” Perry said.

“And I’ve said this for a long time: when I die, I don’t want ‘Friends; to be the first thing that’s mentioned; I want that [helping others] to be the first thing that’s mentioned. And I’m going to live the rest of my life proving that.”

On Friday (November 3rd), this goal was realised with the inception of the ‘Matthew Perry Foundation’, an organisation dedicated to helping others overcome addiction.

The charity told ET that it is devoted to carrying out Perry’s life mission.

“The Matthew Perry Foundation is the realisation of Matthew’s enduring commitment to helping others struggling with the disease of addiction,” the statement reads.

“It will honour his legacy, be guided by his own words and experiences, and driven by his passion for making a difference in as many lives as possible.”

Perry’s funeral service took place at Forest Lawn Cemetery, near Warner Bros. Studios, before there weekend.

All five of his co-stars from the 1990s hit sitcom, including Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, and David Schwimmer, are said to have been in attendance at the private service, alongside Perry’s family.
