Matthew Perry wanted Zac Efron to play him in a biopic he was working on

Matthew Perry had big plans for the future before his untimely death.

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, Athenna Crosby said he had plans to ask the actor to take the role soon before his life was tragically cut short.

"He had worked with Zac Efron in the past on a movie, and he said that he wanted Zac Efron to play him as a younger version [of himself] and that he was gonna ask him soon to do that," she said.

"He was just looking forward to sharing more about his story and his recovery from addiction, and really championing that cause to help more people, so he was so optimistic and happy about everything that he wanted to do."

Athenna was one of the last people to see Matthew alive after she was photographed on October 27th having lunch with him at Hotel Bel-Air at around 2:30 p.m.

The next day, the Friends star was found dead, aged 54, in a hot tub at his Los Angeles home at approximately 4:00 pm from apparent drowning.

The 25-year-old said the actor seemed to be in good spirits and ate a few bits of his cheeseburger as they chatted about his future plans.

"He was doing great. He is a very funny person, as most people know him to be," she said.

"He's goofy, he's silly. He was cracking jokes the whole time. He was speaking to me about some of the upcoming projects that he wanted to work on. He was very optimistic about the future."

She added: "He was talking about how there's been a public resurgence of interest in him lately and how he was hoping to utilise that to have a second act in his career. He was happy as a clam. So, that's the person that I spoke to."
