Joey Essex said the messages became ‘more threatening’
Joey Essex has reported his stalker to police after receiving concerning and ‘threatening’ messages from her.
The reality star and his team took action after she sent him over 100,000 messages, including death threats to his partner Jessy Potts.
It is believed Joey became more concerned after an increase in the ‘threatening’ messages.
The reality TV star said it’s been a difficult few weeks for him and his loved ones.
They told The Sun:
“We have had to take the decision to report the stalker to the police because the messages have started to become more threatening.
“I love my fans and want to be able to talk to them online but there has to be a line somewhere and sadly this is it,” he said.
Another insider said the reality star appreciates his supporters but he had to take action against this woman.
“Joey loves his fans and being able to engage with them online so is used to receiving messages.”
“Of course, they’re not always nice and he does get trolled, but after being in the public eye for so many years he’s got used to dealing with that side of it,” the source said.
The reality star’s team noticed a major increase in the messages during his time on Love Island.
The stalker reportedly sent him thousands of messages and also left hundreds of comments on his social media accounts.
His team grew concerned when they noticed the intensity of the messages, especially when it came to Jessy.
“Since he met Jessy, though, they have grown increasingly frightening with some targeted, physical threats and it’s become cause for concern,” they said.
