‘You can’t just stop yourself from worrying’ – Jess Redden opens up about fertility struggles

Jess Redden has bravely opened up about her fertility struggles. The new mum welcomed her first child, a son named Bobby, in August but faced fertility struggles before conceiving her son.

She told The Sunday Independent that it was so hard to hear people tell her she would get pregnant when she ‘relaxed’.

“Speaking from personal experience I know all too well how unhelpful it is when people say, ‘just relax and it will happen for you’” she said.

The new mum said that fertility struggles can really knock you mentally, and having people share unhelpful advice can make it even worse.

“So thinking that, ‘oh my gosh, that might not happen for you someday’, that’s such a difficult thought to deal with. But I guess you just have to take it day by day and then look where you are now and all that worry.”

She understands that people mean well, but it can be incredibly tough to hear.

“Of course, nobody means any malice when they offer that wisdom, but when you have spent months or years trying to conceive it really is the last thing you want to hear.

“It’s not that you should never worry because you can’t just stop yourself from worrying, but day by day, moment by moment, everything will work out.”

Jess Redden said becoming a mum is one of the best things that ever happened to her, but she is learning every day.

“Every day is a learning day and they are going by so quickly,” she told her followers.

“My greatest little love I promise to always give you my best, I may not always get it right but I promise to always give you my all,” she told her baby boy.
