It was no secret that Katie Hopkins and Peaches Geldof weren’t friends but that didn’t stop people from pointing the finger at Katie when Peaches sadly passed away.

One Twitter user got in touch with the controversial figure, asking: “Have you an ounce of sympathy in your nasty little heart?”

Now Katie has spoken out about the criticism she received and, in a way, has commented on the 25-year-old’s tragic death in a newspaper article for The Sun.

She talks about the outpouring of messages that came from celebrities including Gok Wan and Myleene Klass after the news broke.

“I watched them try to outbid each other in a public auction of affection and held my tongue… Celebrities are the new priests of pain. I refused to be part of this revolting spectacle”.

She also commented on the television appearance that made the headlines: “Peaches and I met once, on a TV sofa in central London. We were strangers and remained adversaries.

“Peaches didn’t want a tweet from me. She didn’t welcome it in life. She certainly didn’t need it in death. She was tough enough not to seek approval from anyone. I admire that trait in others”.

“When terrible things happen, our job is not to cause a fuss but to leave people to their grief… Now Sir Bob, her husband and the children need to be left in private to clutch on to anything that keeps them afloat”.

Katie finished the piece with a heartbreaking message: “Growing up without a mum brought heartbreak into Peaches’ life. Her death threatens to do the same for her boys.

“History has done a terrible thing and repeated itself… Peaches didn’t need tweets from celebrities or strangers – she just needed a mother’s love”.
