Evan Rachel Wood is being sued for millions by the producers behind 10 Things I Hate About Life.
According to E! News the actress, who recently revealed that she has split from her husband Jamie Bell, is being sued for $30 million over the “follow-up” to 10 Things I Hate About You. (It’s more of an alternative take and exploration of the themes addressed in the 1998 hit film.)
The producers allege that Wood took $300,000 in advance but then “changed her mind… ultimately refusing without any legal justification to fulfil her contractual obligations and instead opting to walk out on the project”.
Wood’s representative has hit back at the claims, saying that the lawsuit “is preposterous and simply a bullying tactic from financially troubled producers”.
They added that production on the project had shut down in February and was due to resume, as agreed by Wood, in November. However, according to her camp, issues remained unresolved at this time.
Their statement continued: “Repeated subsequent promises by the producers to resume production and pay Evan also turned out to be false. Enough is enough. The producers, not Evan, have breached contract”.
