Emilia Clarke may regret making this comment about living in London

Whoops.

Laura Holland

Now, having met Emilia Clarke last week I can vouch for how sound she is, so she probably didn’t mean these comments the way they could be taken up.

Emilia Clarke was chatting with TimeOut magazine when she made some comments about living in London that seem quite condescending.

She was talking about how she lives in Dalston, a suburb to the north-east of the city, and how she didn’t fit in because of the way she dresses.

It was more her choice of wording that just saying she didn’t fit in. She said:

“‘When I first moved there, I walked down the street with my friend and she was like, “Mate, we’re going to have to change how you dress.” I was wearing such fancy clothes. Not fancy clothes, but I didn’t look dirty, and I like wearing a little bit of a heel. When I was living in Dalston, other people were like: “F***ing dress down, sweetheart.”
