Chloe Madeley has been targeted by Twitter trolls after she spoke out in defence of her mother Judy Finnigan.

The personal trainer took to her social media account to defend her mum who caused controversy earlier this week with her comments about convicted rapist Ched Evans.

Chloe wrote: “While I respect the opinions of those saying my mother was ‘right’, I feel I must clear something up… My mother was voicing an opinion on the matter of criminals being accepted back into society. The comments she made to the case in question were facts, not opinions.

“While it may anger some that term ‘non violent rape’ exists, unfortunately it does. Referencing it and explaining why that was the charge does not mean you think this category of rape is acceptable.

“To believe that my mother is pro ‘non violent rape’ is ridiculous and I am shocked that so many people have jumped to this conclusion. To the trolls wishing rape on me, stop, you are utterly pathetic.”

The 27-year-old also posted a picture of a few of the abusive tweets she received following this statement.

Television presenter Judy was criticised this week for the comments she made on Loose Women regarding convicted rapist Ched Evans. She later apologised for any offence caused by the remarks.

In a piece for the Daily Express, she said: “Do I defend Evans’s despicable behaviour on the night in question in any way whatsoever? No I categorically do not.”

She added: “The judge in the case said he took into account the fact there was ‘no force involved’ and that ‘the complainant received no injuries’… But let me add that, to me, rape is rape. It is an appalling crime. I was simply reporting the legal facts of this case before commenting.”
