The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants stars have defended Blake Lively
Blake Lively’s friends and co-stars have issued a joint statement after the actress sued Justin Baldoni for sexual harassment.
Lively’s The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants co-stars said they stand in solidarity with the actress.
America Ferrera, Amber Tamblyn, and Alexis Bledel stated:
“As Blake’s friends and sisters for over twenty years we stand with her in solidarity as she fights back against the reported campaign waged to destroy her reputation.”
They praised her for summoning the courage to “ask for a safe workplace” for both herself and her colleagues.
“We are appalled to read the evidence of a premeditated and vindictive effort that ensued to discredit her voice.
“Most upsetting is the unabashed exploitation of domestic violence survivors’ stories to silence a woman who asked for safety. The hypocrisy is astounding.”
They praised Blake for speaking up and finding the courage to do so
“We are struck by the reality that even if a woman is as strong, celebrated, and resourced as our friend Blake, she can face forceful retaliation for daring to ask for a safe working environment,” they continued.
The actresses said Blake’s courage was inspiring.
America Ferrera, Amber Tamblyn, and Alexis Bledel have been friends with Lively since 2005.
They starred alongside the actress in The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants and the 2008 sequel.
Their joint statement comes after Lively accused director Justin Baldoni of sexual harassment.
She also accused him of plotting a smear campaign to ruin her career following the film’s release.
Blake told the New York Times: “I hope that my legal action helps pull back the curtain on these sinister retaliatory tactics to harm people who speak up about misconduct and helps protect others who may be targeted.”
Baldoni’s lawyer has denied the accusations and said they are “categorically false accusations”.
He also said the accusations made by Lively are “shameful”.
