AGEING

‘Ageing’ isn’t a bad word and Rachel McAdams has proved it

Choosing to prolong the ageing process with Botox or filler is a very normal and common practice and it should not be judged.

In the celebrity world, it is widely known that many choose to undergo surgeries and procedures to maintain a youthful appearance, and, of course, they look beautiful.

However, this can then influence society to achieve the same or similar results.

For those who do not wish to have any cosmetic intervention, visual representation is equally important in normalising signs of ageing, such as wrinkles and grey hair.

Eventually, we all will get them, whether we choose to wear them proudly or conceal them — both options are completely acceptable.

We tend to view the word ‘ageing’ as a bad word or an insult, even when it’s used in a complementary way.

However, the reality is, there is no escaping time and we will all age, so why not learn to appreciate it and even admire it?

The process of ageing should be seen and celebrated — it’s a luxury that not everyone gets — and, on this occasion, it was.

Rachel McAdams is an actress who is renowned for her talent, beauty, and authenticity.

While the star doesn’t frequent our screens as much as she once did, she remains one of the greatest talents of our time.

The actress also isn’t known for giving many media interviews, which is why a recent interview with Vogue, understandably, excited fans.

McAdams appeared in the magazine’s ‘Look The Part’ series, where stars reflect on iconic fashion moments from roles throughout their careers.

The response to the Mean Girls icon’s appearance was nothing short of beautiful purely because fans commented in awe and admiration of her natural ageing.

“The older she gets the more beautiful she becomes”

The About Time actress is just 45 years old, which is so young, but something as normal as looking your age was something that social media users complimented and commended her for.

“Omg her eye wrinkles add sooo much to her charm and beauty. She’s truly mesmerizing,” one user wrote.

“I love that she’s so natural,” another added.

“The older she gets the more beautiful she becomes,” a third user commented.

In Hollywood, it can appear that celebrities don’t age as quickly as the rest of us, making the normalisation of signs of ageing a welcomed sight.

Again, the actress by no means looks old, which is, again, not a bad thing, but she has certainly embraced ageing naturally, something I also want to do.

As a 31-year-old, crow’s feet and fine lines have already begun to take shape on my face, which some days I’m okay with, but sometimes I’m not.

All I’ll say is that when someone as influential, successful, and authentic as Rachel McAdams makes them look beautiful, it certainly helps.
