Amazon MGM Studios have announced the highly anticipated cast for Boys of Tommen, an upcoming series based on the novels by Irish author Chloe Walsh.
In an Instagram post earlier today, it was announced that after a "wide search", Nancy Surridge will be playing the role of main character Shannon Lynch, while Conor Sánchez will star beside her as Johnny Kavanagh.
James O'Donoghue will play Shannon's troubled older brother Joey Lynch, and Sophie McGibbon will star as his girlfriend Aoife Molloy.
The first season of the show will follow the stories of Binding 13 and Keeping 13, the first two novels in Chloe Walsh's Boys of Tommen series.
The romantic drama will follow the forbidden love story of two Irish teenagers studying at Tommen College, a prestigious private school in Ballylaggin, Co. Cork. Johnny Kavanagh is the school's star rugby player with a chance to go professional. Shannon Lynch is the shy new girl at Tommen College.
Both students are hiding their own secrets. Shannon struggles with a violent and abusive home life, and Johnny has been hiding a potentially career-threatening injury. Through their shared secrets and undeniable chemistry, the two teens battle against all odds to save one another.
There are currently six novels in the Boys of Tommen series available to read, starring Shannon and Johnny, as well as their large cast of family and friends.
The romantic drama series will be brought to the screen by the producers of One Day, The Summer I Turned Pretty and Twilight. Brendan Canty will direct the series, and Ingrid Goodson will be the series producer. The books are being adapted for the screen by Good Girl’s Guide to Murder’s screenwriter Poppy Cogan.
