Hello Kitty… Brunette!
If you’re looking to start the new year with a fresh do, ‘Kitty Brunette’ may be a good choice.
This new hair trend, most recently seen sported by Selena Gomez, adds a little life and personality to one-tone hair, which also had its moment this year.
However, ‘Kitty Brunette’ is forecasted to be the next big thing for its depth and multi-tonal appearance of lighter and brighter highlights.
If you find yourself questioning how a hair trend ended up with this name, same.
Tabby cats come in their own personal blend of shades, each one as distinct as the next.
Due to ‘Kitty Brunette’s’ similar blend of shades and ability to be personalised for every person it gets its moniker after the beloved house cat.
Gemma Smidmore, a pro-London hair colourist, told Glamour UK that she has seen the trend combine tones such as ‘chocolates, gold, and taupes’, and added that it works with any skin tone.
However, the variety of colours to play with doesn’t end there. Think beige, buff, chestnut and caramels, and now think of them all together in a layered nature.
“It’s elegant and gives brunettes the perfect balance of layered tones to create texture and add depth to the hair,” Gemma said, also stating that this a ‘low maintenance’ hair colour to opt for as it is introduced softly and grows out seamlessly.
For this reason, she says, ‘Kitty Brunette’ is ‘timeless and versatile for any brunette’.
When it comes to achieving this trend, Gemma says her go-to method would using baby balayage, ‘using many different tones and keeping a few of the lighter tones around the face’.
The praises for ‘Kitty Brunette’ just keep on coming, as no hair type is off limits – whether your is layered or curly.
