Roz Purcell is set to tie the knot in 2026

Radio presenter Roz Purcell has opened up about the wedding trend she missed out on.

She has been engaged to her partner Zach since August 2023, but they wanted to enjoy their engagement.

Roz said wedding planning has been incredibly fun, but there was one trend she missed out on because her sister got there first.

In an interview with the Irish Mail’s Sunday magazine, Roz said her sister had a surprise wedding.

She explained that she would’ve loved to do the same but her sister Rachel beat her to it.

She told the publication: “She told everyone that it was her engagement party but when they turned up, there was a big banner that read ‘Surprise! This is our wedding’, then she appeared in her wedding dress.”

“It was gas. The whole wedding album was filled with everyone’s shocked reactions because she had a photographer there, taking pictures, when she announced it was her wedding and not an engagement party.”

Roz added: “She loved the fact that guests didn’t need to buy a new outfit or expensive gifts. The people there had made an effort to go to what they thought was an engagement party. Those are the people I want at my wedding.”

Speaking about her own big day, Roz said she is “pretty chilled” about it.

The host said: “I just want a fun day, a nice dress that I won’t look back on in 30 years and go “What was I thinking?” and nice cake.”

Roz never felt the pressure to rush down the aisle

Roz previously told Her.ie that she was enjoying being engaged and didn’t feel the need to get married straight away.

“In my twenties, I always felt like I was in such a rush. I thought I should be getting engaged at a certain age or have a house by that age. But now that I’m in my thirties I’m going to actually enjoy these things and slow life down.

“I’m really enjoying being engaged. I’m not going to rush getting married because I feel like as women we’re told to concentrate on certain things like having kids and getting married, but I want to enjoy the now.”
