The glorious sunshine that we’ve all been enjoying over the past couple of days could be coming to an end sometime next week, according to Met Éireann.
The past week or so has seen clear blue skies and temperatures in around the low to mid 20s, however, it looks as though that could all change.
This current weekend (May 17 and 18), temperatures should remain high with Met Éireann forecasting that “top temperatures will range from 17 degrees along eastern coastal fringes up to 26 degrees in the west” on Sunday.
Sunday night is expected to be mainly dry with temperatures ranging from 4 to 9 degrees.
Looking ahead to Monday, the forecaster said: “Mostly sunny to begin on Monday but patchy cloud looks set to build through the morning with a few showers breaking out in the afternoon and evening, one or two possibly heavy. Highest temperatures of 16 to 22 degrees in light to moderate easterly or variable breezes.”
Tuesday and Wednesday should remain mostly dry with some patches of cloudy and showery weather, with temperatures ranging from 16 to 23 degrees.
Looking ahead to the tail end of next week, Met Éireann said: “Still a fair bit of uncertainty at the current lead time, but Atlantic westerlies do look set to eventually return towards the end of the week, bringing a greater chance of spells of rain or showers.”
Carlow Weather on X has backed up the uncertainty for next week, as a change in weather looks likely.
In a video posted online today, he said that there is a “risk of showers” on Monday and Tuesday, but they will be “very localised”.
Speaking on next Saturday (May 24), he said that the weather does seem uncertain, and he expects a clearer breakdown of the weather by Friday.
He added that “showers are about as bad as it looks” for next Saturday, but warned that “it is really uncertain”.
