Weather experts have warned that snow could be on its way as a bitterly cold Arctic blast is expected to affect Ireland.
Temperatures could reach below 0 degrees in some areas over the coming days, right into Valentine's weekend.
Some forecasts even suggest snow could fall in certain areas over the week and weekend.
Alan O'Reilly from Carlow Weather said 'fresh, crisp, sunny, weather' on Friday and Saturday may 'cause issues with icy surfaces'.
Met Éireann also predicted very low temperatures over the coming days, with some areas expected to drop as low as -3 degrees with a windy chill which will make it feel even more severe.
In their national outlook for the coming week, the first few days are set to bring damp and dull conditions, before turning extremely cold on Thursday evening.
"Cold with frost and ice forming as temperatures fall to between -3 and 2 degrees in light variable winds," Met Éireann said.
