A stellar line-up assembled for this Apple feature.
Following on from the huge success of Mare of Easttown, for HBO, show creator Brad Ingelsby has lined up Julianne Moore and Sydney Sweeney for a feature film production.
Mare of Easttown, which starred Kate Winslet and Guy Pearce, was set in Southeastern Pennsylvania and focused of the titular character as she attempted to solve a murder while also looking for a missing woman, the daughter of an old friend. It was a massive success for HBO with a second season in the works.
Apple Studios have nabbed Ingelsby for his next big project. The plot for Echo Valley, as reported by Variety, goes as follows:
Julianne Moore stars as Kate Garrett, a woman reeling from a personal tragedy who spends her days boarding and training horses on the secluded and picturesque Echo Valley Farm.
Late one night, her wayward daughter Claire (Sydney Sweeney) arrives at her doorstep, frightened, trembling and covered in someone else’s blood. From that simple premise, (the film) becomes a heart-pounding thriller about just how far a mother will go to save her child.
Sydney Sweeney, a star on the rise
The film will be directed by Michael Pearce from Ingelsby’s original scrip. The project will be produced by Ingelsby, Ridley Scott and Michael Pruss. Production is expected to begin this summer.
Moore, who has starred in Hollywood features such as Boogie Nights and The Big Lebowski, has recently worked on ‘Sharper’ and ‘Lisey’s Story’ with Apple. Sydney Sweeney has caught a lot of glowing reviews from her turns in Euphoria and White Lotus.
Also on the Apple slate are the upcoming Martin Scorsese-Leonardo DiCaprio film, ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’, ‘The Instigators’ from Matt Damon and Casey Affleck, a Jon Watts thriller with George Clooney and Brad Pitt, Napoleon, which stars Joaquin Phoenix.
