Popular Irish pub to offer bottomless Guinness brunch throughout January

Ryan Price

That’s Dry January gone out the window.

A popular Irish pub has introduced a ‘Bottomless Guinness’ offer throughout the month of January.

An Púcán, which is located just off Eyre Square in the centre of Galway, is offering customers all-you-can drink Guinness every Saturday and Sunday from 12 PM to 4 PM for €35 per person.

The only catch is that a 2-hour limit applies, so once you take your first sip you’ve got 120 minutes to enjoy as much of the black stuff as you desire.

Along with the Guinness, customers will get to savour the gastropub’s delicious Blaa and Wedges. The offer started on 3rd January and will run right through until the 31st of the month.

It isn’t the first time the Galway-based establishment has catered kindly towards stout-drinkers.

Last January, An Púcán rewarded those who had mastered the art of ‘splitting the G’ by offering a free pint to anyone who could do so successfully.

@anpucan 🙌 SPLIT THE G AND DRINK FOR FREE 🙌 Every Wednesday night from 8pm if you can split G you get your second pint of Guinness for FREE ✔️ T&Cs ✔️The splitting must be done in front of a staff member ✖️You can't split the G on a free pint ✔️Splitting the G – the black line must be level with the Bar (The line in the centre of the G) #galway #anpucan #guinness ♬ Paddy Losty – PureIrishGold

For any non-pint people out there, ‘splitting the G’ is a special Guinness-drinking practice which requires people to drink enough on their first sip so that the bottom of the head falls in the middle of the letter “g” in the Guinness logo on the glass.

The offer came in conjunction with the pub’s weekly ‘Split the G’ competition, with the pub explaining: “It’s a lot of fun to give it a go, so why not join in the craic and see if you can do it too? And remember, you can only win a free pint by splitting the G on a pint you’ve paid for – not free pints.”

“When you buy a creamy pint of Guinness, you’ll have the option to ‘Split the G’ – and if you’re successful, we’ll give you a free pint on us.

“All you have to do is successfully split the G in front of one of our team members – that means making sure the black line is level with the centre of the ‘G’.”

Remember to enjoy Guinness responsibly as part of a varied and balanced diet.
